Speech and language therapy

Working closely with a Specialised NHS Speech and Language Therapist, I developed a group of 11 illustrations. The brief was to create individual scenes in a consistent style which would feature people and animals performing specified actions. Once an example illustration had been signed off by the therapist I worked on the other 10, amending and adjusting based on her feedback. The finished pictures are now an integral part of the NHS assessment process for the recovery of stroke patients and the analysis of their effectiveness has been extremely complimentary.

Based on this success, the project has now moved into its second phase. A creative writer has joined the team and we are creating illustrated stories focusing on one figure from each of the original illustrations. The first story was completed in March 2022.

Cutout designs

In 2021 I created several designs for a Hull-based design agency for possible inclusion in a series of cutout shop window displays. Some of the designs were utilised and reproduced with slight adaptations, displayed during late 2021 and early 2022. The brief was to make designs which conformed to a tight colour palette and ensure that they fitted well with designs from other artists.

Stories

I produced a series of illustrated stories for Homegroup based on supplied scripts and the resulting work was published in their quarterly news letter. Often, I had only 2 days to complete a story after receipt of a script and it was tough to hit the deadlines.

Each one had to be in a slightly different style, hence the variations.

Illustrations for posters / flyers etc

I’ve created illustrations for numerous purposes such as educational courses, logos, posters, flyers, and album artwork. Much of this has been character work and I’ve increasingly moved from purely hand drawn artwork towards vector techniques.
